Note: Martin Topper, son of the late Thore and Sarah Topper, was born Oct. 16, 1872, in the town of Blue Mounds. He was baptized in the Perry Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Blue Mounds Lutheran Church, May 30, 1887. For the past 35 years he has made his home in northern Wisconsin, where he has been engaged in farming. The past 8 years he has lived on a small farm in Hillsdale, Barron Co., Wisconsin. He has been in failing health the past two years. About five weeks ago, he was taken to St. Joseph's hospital at Chippewa Falls, where he died July 9, 1930. He was at the time of his death 57 years, 8 months and 23 days old. He is survived by five brothers and one sister: Ole, Thorvald, John, Andrew and Theodore. His sister, Mrs. Mary Leacy, resides at Spokane, WA. His parents and one brother, Olaf, preceded him in death. The funeral was held Saturday, July 12 at 1 o'clock from the home of his brother Thorvald at Mt. Horeb and 2 o'clock from the W. Blue Mounds Lutheran Church with burial at Blue Mounds. The Rev. E. R. Anderson officiated.
