OBIT - Mt. Horeb Times, January 16, 1920 edition. As briefly stated in our last week's paper, Andrew Erickson passed away in death at his home in this village January 6, 1920 at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 13 days after a rather brief illness. Deceased was born in Sondre Aurdal, Valdres, and came to America with his parents when 6 years of age, was married to Miss Marit Hagen, and made their home in the town of Vermont until 5 years ago when they gave over the management of the farm to their sons and took up their residence in this village. Mr. Erickson was a quiet, unassuming man with good habits, and a pleasant disposition, earnest in his deliberation and attended strictly to his own affairs and was respected by all who knew him. He leaves widow and the following grown up children: Mrs. Ida Bakken, town of Vermont; Miss Bertha Erickson, at home; Mrs. Ole Steensrud, Madison; Mrs. Herman Barsness, Black Earth; Alfred Erickson, Vermont; Mrs. Wm. Witte, Freeport, Ill; Melvin at home, and Mrs. Elmer Mickelson, Vermont. Besides one brother Hans Erickson, Sinai, S. Dak. and 2 sisters Mrs. Annie Hildestad, Volga S. Dak. and Mrs. Olia Haaberg, Boyd, Minn. besides 19 grandchildren to mourn the loss of a kind husband, father, brother and grandfather. The funeral was held Friday and very largely attended services were held at the residence and at the church. Rev. Anderson preached an eloquent sermon and paid appropriate tribute to his past life and preparation for the life hereafter. The pall bearers were his two sons and four sons-in-law. The remains were interred in the Lutheran cemetery in this place. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of all in this their loss and sorrow.
