From the book entitled Vermont History, 1977, page 228 "Ole and Hans Evenson Haga, or Olmshuseiet, brothers, emigrated 1851 at the same time as Arne Mickelson Gladhaug and his wife, Thora Viken. Ole Evenson married Thora Viken's sister, Johannah* and they had two children, Marit and Even Olson. Marit married Andrew Erickson (mentioned in last paragraph). Marit's brother, Even, married the widow of Ole Olson Espelien. Their children were Martin and Mary Olson. Evan and his second wife had two sons, Banford and Edwin Olson."
*Thora Viken's sister was Berit "Betsey'. The widow Johannah was married to Ole's son Evan Olson.
Additional: Ole was married to Betsy for 53 years. Ole's son Even (or Evan) was married to a widow named Johanna (Peterson) Olson who had been married to Ole Olson Espelien until he died in 1897.
More clarification and corrections in the notes for Evan and Johanna in this database.

From James Bittner on February 20, 2007 The record for the father and mother of Ole Evenson and his brother Hans from a Norwegian genealogical database at http://www.slekt.elsrud.com/HTML/people/p00001aq.htm#I26254:
Eivind Hansen Garthus MOEN * Birth: 1788, Sor Aurdal, Oppland * Death: 1874 * Partnership with: Anne Olsdatter GARTHUS Marriage: 1812 o Gunhild Eivindsdatter MOEN b 1807, Sor Aurdal, Oppland o Tora Eivindsdatter MOEN b 1812, Sor Aurdal o Hans Eivindsen Moen Storsvee GULLBERG b 1815, Sor Aurdal o Kari Eivindsdatter MOEN b 1818, Sor Aurdal o Ole Eivindsen Moen TORDEBR?TAHAGIN b 1821, Sor Aurdal o Ivar Eivindsen MOEN b 1825, Sor Aurdal
From this, it looks like their father was born on the Garthus farm, then moved to the Moen farm where his six kids were born. In the 1801 Norwegian census, he's called Even Hansen, a 14 year-old son of Hans Evenson, living on the Olmhuus farm -- this is from http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=4 &fil namn=f10540&gardpostnr=82&personpostnr=2328 The mother of Hans and Ole, Anne Olsdatter, was 20 when they took the 1801 census. She's at http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=4 &fil namn=f10540&gardpostnr=21&personpostnr=545
In 1846, Ole married Berit Ivarsdatter Vika:
Ole Eivindsen Moen TORDEBR?TAHAGIN * Birth: 1821, Sor Aurdal, Oppland * Partnership with: Berit Ivarsdatter VIKA Marriage: 1846 o Marit OLSDATTER b 1847, Sor Aurdal, Oppland * Notes for Ole Eivindsen Moen TORDEBR?TAHAGIN: til Amerika 1851
Berit, we know, had a sister Tora/Thora who married Arne Gladhaug Mickelson. Here's what the Norwegian genealogist has:
Tora Ivarsdatter VIKA * Father: Ivar Olsen Li Rustebakke VIKA * Mother: Marit Hansdatter GRIMSRUDEIE * Birth: 1821, Sor Aurdal, Oppland * Partnership with: Arne Mikkelsen HANSEBR?TAHAUGEN Marriage: 1848 o Berit Arnesdatter HANSEBR?TAHAUGEN b 1849, Sor Aurdal, Oppland o Mikkel Arnesen HANSEBR?TAHAUGEN b 1851, Sor Aurdal, Oppland * Notes for Tora Ivarsdatter VIKA: til Amerika 1851
Ole and his wife Berit, as well as Berit's sister Thora and her husband Arne, signed out of the Bagn church in 1851. At the time, both families were living on the Torebrothaugen farm (from Utflytta fr? Valdres 1816-1867 at http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=3 &fil namn=valdutfl&gardpostnr=2787):
  Ole Evensen Torebrothaugen 1821 24/2 1851 7 Bagn Sør-Aurdal Berit Iversdtr 33 1851 8 Bagn Sør-Aurdal Marit Olsdtr 4 1851 9 Bagn Sør-Aurdal Arne Mikkelsen Thorebrothaugen 1822 17/11 1851 10 Bagn Sør-Aurdal Thora Iversdtr 30 Aar 1851 11 Bagn Sør-Aurdal Berit Arnesdtr 1849 17/3 1851 12 Bagn Sør-Aurdal Mikkel Arnesen 1851 5/5 1851 13 Bagn Sør-Aurdal (these church records are a good source for birth dates)
All this matches the data on the passenger manifest of the Sjofna which sailed from Drammen on 31 May 1851.
Ole's older brother Hans immigrated a couple years later in 1853, and set up (or bought) a sawmill at Elvers in Vermont, Dane Co., WI. The Norwegian genealogies say that Hans had six kids before he emigrated. You can see Hans's sawmill in Sec 21 of the 1873 plat map of Vermont, which is at http://www.daneCo.history.org/1873plat/vermont.html -- also the Ole Evenson and Arne Mickelson farms nearby in Sec 28 and Sec 27. Double click on the map until it is large enough to view. It is viewable in quadrants.
Attached is a file listing the Vermont Twp land patents -- something that I use, along with the plat maps at the end of the 1977 Vermont book, to figure out who was living where, and get a handle on who was marrying whom. - J. Bittner
