According to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, James arrived around 1858 According to the Hawley birthday book Matilda was born 25 Ap 1839 and died at age 79 in 1918- but something noteworthy happened in 1885- since the entry for James Northcote also lists 1885 I'm assuming it was an event that affected both of them. According to 'Hist of Kings Cty'- James b in Hammerton, came to US in 1856 and related- father side- to James Northcote, famous hist painter (contemp of Boswell )
