a. Note:   Hazel Spengler Hazel C. Spengler, 81, lifelong resident of Winfield, died Dec. 8, 2002, at William Newton Hospital.
  Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Union-Graham Cemetery.
  Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
  Memorials have been established with the First Christian Church and Hospice Care of Kansas of Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
  Spengler was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Winfield, to Sarah Ella (Miller) and Ed Askins. She was raised and educated in Winfield.
  On May 17, 1947, she married Jack Spengler in Winfield. He died Jan. 8, 1988.
  Spengler worked as a clerk at the F.W. Woolworth store for about eight years before it closed. She worked full time in the kitchen of St. John's College from 1968 to 1984 and then part time until the college closed in 1986.
  She was a member of the First Christian Church.
  Survivors include a sister, Gladys Morgan, Junction City, and a brother, Carl Askins, Winfield.
