Notes
a. Note:   Passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loving family. Wallace was born in Palouse, WA, to Oliver and Hattie (Askins) Libby, and resided in the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene area for most of his life. He married his beloved wife Grace Ellen (Tucker) on August 10, 1935. Wallace worked in several professions over the years, however he predominately worked in the construction business as a carpenter, contractor, and Construction Superintendent. His greatest love, aside from his family , was square dancing, which he enjoyed with his wife and countless friends for over 30 years. He was very involved with the Western Dance Association, not only serving several terms as one of the principal officers, but he further helped design and build the Western Dance Center on Sullivan Road in the Spokane Valley, which remains in use today. Because of his love and dedication to this pastime, he and his wife were awarded the McGregor Award by the Washington State Federation of Square and Round Dancers in 1974 , as well as inducted into the Spokane Council's "Hall of Fame" in 1978. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Grace; daughter Dixie Libby, Surprise, Arizona; sons, Wallace W. Libby (Patricia), Spokane, Washington, and Roger D. Libby (Deborah), Otis Orchards, Washington; as well as 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. HAZEN AND JAEGER VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N PINES ROAD, SPOKANE VALLEY, WASHINGTON is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Funeral Home, with a Memorial service taking place in the Colonial Chapel on Tuesday, January 13th at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Wallace will be laid to rest at a private graveside service. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Evergreen Fountains for their love and attention during this difficult time, as well as the excellent care provided by the various members of Hospice of Spokane. We couldn't have done it without you. Thank you for allowing our beloved father to move on with peace and dignity. We shall miss this exceptionally strong and wonderful man, but his memory will live within us forever. Contributions in his memory to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210 would be greatly appreciated.
