a. Note:   Oma Lucy Askins, 92, of Brownstown, died at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
  Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Stewardson Cemetery in Stewardson, with John Robinson and Keith Bellinger officiating. Memorials: First Christian Church Building Fund. Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown is in charge of arrangements.
  Mrs. Askins was born on Sept. 4, 1915, in rural Stewardson, the daughter of Emory and Kathryn Ashenbremer Hobson. She married George W. Askins on April 27, 1933, in Charleston; he died on Nov. 6, 1974.
  She was a retired seamstress, having been employed by Princess Peggy Dress Factory and the drapery factory, both in Vandalia. She was a member of First Christian Church in Brownstown.
  She is survived by a sister, Clara and her husband Pat Elgin of Neoga; sister-in-law, Norma Hobson of Stewardson; and several nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Shirley Askins; brother, Charles Hobson; and sister, Opal Randall. ~~ Vandalia < www.leaderunion.com/ >
