Note: Gerald "Wayne" Conely, 81, Geneseo, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at Hillcrest Home, in Geneseo. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at Vandemore Funeral Home LTD, Geneseo. The Rev. Mike McBride will officiate. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Friends may call from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Friday at the home. Wayne was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Arkansas City, the son of Reuben and Lucille (Seery) Conely. He was an Air Force Vet of WWII serving in the Africa Theater. On Sept. 7, 1947, he married Virginia A. Taylor in Arkansas City. He was an engineer for the Natural Gas Pipeline Company for 35 years retiring in 1983. Wayne was a member of the Geneseo Rotary Club and Kansas Professional Engineers. He had formerly done several civic and community affairs. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; one son and spouse, Roger and Susan Conely, Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Jane Hunter, Princeton, Ill.; four grandchildren, Christopher and Gallen Hunter and Kaitlin and Patrick Conely. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Ryan Hunter. Memorials may be made to the Wayne Conely Memorial Fund.
