Note: Violet Bernice Jacquot went home to be with her Lord on March 1, 2011 after a fruitful life and a short intense battle with lung cancer. Violet, who was known simply as Helen by her family and friends, was born to John and Marjorie Chytka on June 6, 1934 in Yankton, South Dakota. Helen loved her family, the outdoors, gardening, and crafts of all kinds. She delighted in surprising her family and friends with her unique specialty desserts and candies. She was a generous woman, hardworking, energetic and her hands were never still. She was always busy helping someone or with one of her many craft projects. Helen spent many hours picnicking, boating, and waterskiing on the Snake River with family and friends as her three boys were growing up in the Tri-Cities area. This was definitely an act of love, as those near to her realized that she was actually afraid of the water. In later years, she and Elmer traveled with their camper and then motor home to visit family, antique shows, out of the way antique shops, and inevitably ending up at their all-time favorite spots at Berlin Flats, or the Yaak River where they enjoyed the solitude and a bit of fishing. Helen’s artistic flare was evident in her home as well as in her crafts. She enjoyed interior decorating. Her home has been an elegant work in progress as well as the intriguing landscaping outdoors. She delighted in creating many beautiful places to relax both indoors and outside. Helen worked at a variety of different jobs during her life. She worked at a publishing company in the Tri-Cities, as a housekeeper at Spokane Valley General Hospital for eighteen years, as an antique dealer, and she thoroughly enjoyed the time that she was able to spend at home. Helen was very active in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she had many special friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son, Mike, and her two brothers Edward and Richard Chytka. She will be sorely missed by her husband, Elmer Jacquot; her sons John Reed and wife Tara, Gary Reed and wife Reva; grandchildren Jeromy, Jasmin and husband Todd, Nathanael and wife Ellen, Jake, Ben and wife Brenda, Jared, Hannah, and Jonathan; great-grandson Eric, as well as extended family and friends.
