a. Note:   MORTON, IL - Golda B. Askins, 95, of 213 N. Louisiana Ave., Morton, died at 9:04 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at her home.
  She was born Sept. 11, 1913, in St. Francisville, Ill., to Charles and Myrtle (Potts) Breen. She married Elbert Askins on June 29, 1939, in Charleston, Ill. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1992.
  She also was preceded by one son, Michael Askins, on June 29, 1965; three brothers; and one sister.
  Surviving are one daughter, Jane Ann Askins of New York, N.Y., and one brother, Dale Breen of Naperville, Ill.
  Golda was the first full-time music teacher in the Morton schools, teaching 30 years at Jefferson School.
  She was a member of the First Free Methodist Church in Peoria, where she was choir director and led a women's Bible study for many years.
  Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at her church, with Pastor Tim Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton.
  Ludwig Mortuary in Morton is handling arrangements.
