  3. Aurelie Lessard b. 3 Aug 1829 St-Antoine m. Moise Pelletiere. m. 16 Mar 1848 St-Leon d. between 1881 census and 18 Jan 1910 (obit of Nelson Lasser), prob. Maskinongé For the 1880/1881 censuses, I ran their names and found them in Maskinongé, Maskinongé County, P.Q (Dist. 85, Sub. Dist. C, Division 2, Page 3, HH 14). Her age (51) matches, though her given name has morphed to "Amelia". Of the children (Delia 24, Alexandre 18, Hermeline 16, Joseph 15, Hermidas 13, and Simon 9), the names "Delia" and "Alexander" are family name. So we know she was living in 1881 and dead by the time of Nelson's obituary 18 Jan 1910, probably by the census of 1901 as I was not able to fund either of them.
  4. Joseph Lessard b. 27 Apr 1831 St-Antoine m. never married d. 16 Jun 1858 St-Joseph, Maskinongé 5. Julie Lessard b. 7 Jun 1833 St. Antoine m. Antoine Laurent m. 18 Nov 1856 Maskinongé d. betw. 1864 and 1881 census For the 1880/1881 censuses, I got only five hits on a search for "Antoine Laurent", and four of those were named "St. Laurent". Antoine Laurent is widower, aged 57, with three daughters (Sara 21, Celina 19, and Virgine 17), living in Ste-Justine, Maskinongé County, P.Q (District 85, Sub-district D, page 43, HH 176). I would opine that this is our family, and that an examination of the records between the birth of the youngest daughter (she was 17 in the census, thus born circa 1864) and 1881 would find Julie's death record.
  6. Narcisse Lessard b. 24 May 1835 St-Antoine Marie-Catherine m. 21 Sep 1858 St-Paulin, Maskinongé LaFreniere d. 18 Jan 1910 Muskegon, MI 7. Rose-de-Lima Lessard b. 22 Jul 1837 St-Antoine François-Xavier m. 11 Sep 1855 Louisville, Co. Maskinongé, PQ LaFreniere d. 10 Jan 1891 St-Paulin, Co. Maskinongé Her Canada 1881 census record is found in St-Paulin, Maskinongé Co., P.Q., under the name "Xavier Lafreniere". She is enumerated as "Delima". There are five children in the household, to include family names Narcisse and Isaie.
On 18 August 2004 Claire Lambert <jacquesclemyre@sympatico.ca> sent the following information
Rose-de-Lima Lessard, Daughter of Sifroy & Séraphine Tessier, Birth 11 July 1837, Louiseville; Dead 10 Jan 1891, St-Paulin. Marriage: 11 Sept 1855, Louiseville.
  François-Xavier Lafrenière, Son of Joseph & Euphrosine Pelletier, Birth 2 March 1830, St-Léon-le-Grand; Dead 03 Oct 1898, St-Paulin.
  8. Philomene Lessard b. 28 May 1839 St-Antoine m. ???? d. There is no data with which to pin down Philomine. The Philomine Lessards present in the 1881 Canada census all appeared to be "not-our-lady", who I'd reckon died young.
  9. Marie Sophie Lessard b. 4 Nov 1840 St-Antoine Adolphe Cloutier m. 10 Mar 1866 Maskinongé d. Her marriage date was obtained from an Ancestry.com Family Tree database. Children Anne (1867), Stephanie (1870), Sophie (1872), and the youngest, Joseph Henri (8 March 1874, born at Maskinongé). This family group shows an Emerence Dupuis as a first wife for Adolph, no dates.
I searched the USA/Canada 1880/1881 censuses. I thought it would be easy - not many Germanic Adolphs link up with Franco Cloutiers. The Canadian entries for Sophie Cloutier did not pan out, at least obviously. The Adolphs were all wrong. But there was an Adolph Cloutier, age 60, widower, born Canada, living in Dist. 180, Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co, WI (page 213-D), in the house of his son-in-law Ovasen Trepanier, age 33, born Canada, wife Philie, aged 22, also born Canada, both parents born Canada. (She is Adolph's daughter.) Present are two of her brothers (Adolph's sons), Amab (Amable, I suppose), age 23, and Edward, age 19, both also born Canada, parents Can/Can. Now, our Sophie was born 1840 and "Chippewa" Adolph was born 1820, but that was not an unusual match in Quebec at the time. I postulated that this could be our family and that Sophie died between the birth of Edward, in about 1861 and the 1880 US census.
However -- a problem. Sophie and Adolph were married in 1866 and Edward was born in 1861. Back to the drawing board.
One might try Maskinongé County for children for our Adolph and Sophie. If they match the names above, continue. Then the question becomes, when did they move to the States and when/where did she pass on (between 1861-1880).
  10. Eloise Lessard b. 26 Sep 1842 St-Antoine Louis Boussiere m. 20 Feb 1860 Maskinongé d. 10 Apr 1915, Essexville, Bay Co, MI According to Narcisse's obituary (18 January 1910), Eloise was living in Bay City, Bay County, Michigan.
Bay County, Michigan, has a death certificate for an Eliza Bussiere, widow, who died in Essexville, 10 April 1915, age 70, born Canada. There were no further details. I assume that this is our Eloise as the 1900 and 1910 censuses enumerate a woman who reasonably closely fits Eloise's profile, although language problems make the identification less than completely certain.
