Polk & Co.) shows a "Frank Mousseau, bartndr Countier & Vasseur, bds 816 Lake". Far cry from the "machinist" occupation claimed in his marriage license in 1892. She married Frank Mousseau in Muskegon, Muskegon Co., Michigan, 7 November 1892. The Affidavit for License (1381/1892) and the Marriage License (1381) state that Frank Mousseau is 23 and was born in Montréal, occupation machinist, father Bill Mousseau, mother Kate Duffy. Delia Lasser is 22, was born in Muskegon, no occupation, father Nils Lasser and mother Mary Lifringrar. The ceremony took place at Muskegon 7 November 1892 in the presence of Alex Lasser and Mary Bellefleur. Signed F. R. Magnan, Rector. According to the SSDI and the Michigan death index, daughter Julia D. was born 14 September 1893 and died in Muskegon 3 April 1989. I was unable to locate the family in the 1900 census after an exhaustive index search into Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, as well as Michigan. ?Where? 1900 The Grand Rapids City Directory for 1906 shows: "Mousseau, Frank, clk, United Cigar Store, h. 11 Wenham av." Frank F. Mousseau died in Grand Rapids, Kent County, 20 January 1909, aged 48 years, 8 months, 6 days, occupation delivery man. (Liber 7, page 217, record 78.) His obituary appeared in the Grand Rapids Herald, Friday morning edition, 22 January 1909: Frank Mousseau Frank Mousseau, aged 48 years, who was taken from his home, 11 Wenham avenue by the police Wednesday, died at the detention hospital yesterday. Death was caused by congestion of the lungs, which accounted for the delirium from which he suffered. Surviving him are a widow and three children. MI, fa: Canada-Fr; mo: MI occup: none Daughter Lavina married Alfred John Host 11 June 1919 in Muskegon. (Liber 6, page 137, Nr. 12349). He was in Pontiac, Oakland Co, MI for the 1920 enumeration and she was with her mother. 5th Pct, Muskegon City, Muskegon Co MI 1920 23-24 Jan; ED 128 Sheet 22-B; 32 Union St Delia Mousseau, head of HH, owns home under mortgage, white female, age 50, widowed, born Michigan, fa: Canada-French; mo: Canada-French; can read and write English; occupation: none Lavina Host, daughter, white female aged 21, born Michigan, ---, occupation: none The other girls are absent and did not marry in Muskegon Co. One daughter predeceased her mother (see Delia's obituary, below). Julia married a Wohlscheid. Delia re-married, to George Smith, on 3 September 1921 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan (Book 20, page 174). George was a 46 year old stock keeper. Either he died or they divorced by the 1930 census, where Delia is using the name Mousseau and styles herself a widow. This is odd as 26 years later, her death certificate and obituary would name her Smith. 3rd Pct, Muskegon City, Muskegon Co, MI 1930 494 McLaughlin Ave; ED 17, Sheet 11-A, 9 April 1930 Delia Mousseau, head of HH, living alone, owns a radio, white female age 60, widowed, born Michigan, fa: Canada-French; mo: Canada-French; can read and write English; occupation: none Brother Moses's obituary, d. 23 May 1949, Muskegon, says she was resident in Muskegon and refers to her as a Mousseau. She died 14 November 1956 at the Muskegon County Convalescent Hospital. Her death certificate is in Liber 36, page 1014, local file 199 (Muskegon). It gives her name as Delia Rose Smith, daughter of Nelson Lasser and Mary LaFranier, born 1 October 1869. The informant was Mrs. Julia Wohlscheid of Muskegon. Burial 16 November at St. Mary's cemetery. Her obituary and death notice appeared Muskegon Chronicle, Muskegon Michigan, Thursday, 15 November 1956, page 46, cols. 7 and 8, respectively: Mrs. Delia Smith, Life resident, Dies at Age 87 Mrs. Delia Mousseau Smith, 494 McLaughlin avenue, lifelong resident of Muskegon and last member of the Lasser family, died yesterday at the Muskegon County Convalescent Hospital following a long illness. She was 87 years old. She was born Oct. 1, 1869, in Muskegon where she was a member of St. Jean's church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lavina K. Host, Pontiac, and Mrs. Julia Wohlschied, Muskegon. ooOoOoOoo SMITH, MRS. Fraser, Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Jean's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Young Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8:00 P. M. Friday. The Muskegon Genealogical Cemetery book for St. Mary's places her grave at Lot #3-16-7. The alphabetical listing does not show an entry for George.
