Note:   He was a graduate of Kutztown Teachers College. After graduation he taught High School in Mahantonga Valley. In 1910 he graduated with high honors from Medical Surgical College, which later became part of the University of Pennsylvania. He was licensed to practice medicine on Aug 1, 1910. His office was in the home of his brother Robert's. The first baby he delivered was his niece Ruth K. Mengel <Schaltenbrand>, twenty-nine years later he delivered Ruth's first child Walter R. Schaltenbrand. As a community physician he delivered from 3000 to 3500 babies in the Frackville area.
  At the time of his death, he was president of the First National Bank and of the Broad Mountain Building and Loan Association, both of Frackville. Oscar also worked as a deputy coroner.
