Note: Notes for Albert Goschey: A photo of Albert Goschey's baptismal record, as made by St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church, Wisconsin:Photo The 1890 U.S. census records were accidentally burned or damaged by water in 1921. Most of the remaining records were destroyed about 1934. The first link below leads to a map showing farm locations with owner's names in the area of Belgium, Wisconsin in 1892. I have outlined the farms of six ancestors of Robert Jac Watry, born in 1949. One of those six men, John Watry, owned two farms. The second link shows that same map overlaid on a 2017 satellite map of the same area. Albert Goshey's farm was very close to the central area of Belgium. 1892 farm map 1892 map on 2017 map The 1895 Wisconsin state census, taken June twentieth, shows Albert Goschey heading a household of five people, with the other four being females. They lived in Belgium, Ozaukee, Wisconsin. The 1900 U.S. census had an effective date of June first. The Goschey home was enumerated June ninth. The census page shows Albert "Gochey", born in April 1863, two years earlier than the date of birth of April 15, 1865, found for him elsewhere. Also shown is his wife "Kate", born in May 1879, which is two years later that the May 10, 1877, date of birth found for her elsewhere. Either way, Kate gave birth to her first child when she was about 14 to 16 years old. Also shown are four children, including five month old Leo. Albert's older sister Maggie was living with the family, who lived on a farm in Belgium. The 1905 Wisconsin state census, taken June first, shows Albert "Goschy", 40, a farmer; his wife "Katie", 28; five children, including five-year-old Leo, and Albert's 43 year old sister Maggie, with her last name correctly written as Goschey. Albert owned a farm in Belgium. The 1910 U.S. census had an effective date of April fifteenth. The Goschey home was enumerated April thirtieth. The census page shows Albert "Goshy", 44, a farmer; his wife "Katie", 33; and four children, including 10 year old Leo, plus Albert's 48 year old sister, Margaret. They lived on a farm in Belgium. The 1920 U.S. census had an effective date of January first. The Goschey home was enumerated January twentieth. The census page shows Albert "Goshey", 54; wife "Kate", 43; seven children, including 20 year old Leo, plus Albert's sister "Maggie", 57, all living in Belgium. Albert was a farmer. The 1930 U.S. census had an effective date of April first. The Goschey home was enumerated April sixteenth. The census page shows Albert, 65, a farmer, and "Kathryn", 53, heading a household of five in Belgium. The 1940 U.S. census had an effective date of April first. The Goschey home was enumerated on April sixteenth. The census page shows Albert, 75, a farmer; Catherine, 63; and four adult children living in Belgium. Albert stated to the census taker that he had a 6th grade education, and Catherine had a 7th grade education. Albert stated that he worked 72 hours during the last week in March, at the age of 75!
