Notes
a. Note:   Notes for Dominic F. Watry: The 1890 U.S. census records were accidentally burned or damaged by water in 1921. Most of the remaining records were destroyed about 1934.
The 1900 U.S. census had an effective date of January first. The Watry home was enumerated June sixteenth. The census page shows "Domicic" Watry listed as being born in October of 1868, which doesn't match the December 7, 1867 date of birth found elsewhere for Dominic. Also on the census page was Dominic's wife Mary, listed as being born in January of 1872, which is four years earlier than the January 19, 1876 date of birth found elsewhere for Mary. Sometimes people forgot their date of birth, or someone else gave the census taker incorrect information.
Also listed were five children, including 19-month-old Jacob. The family owned a farm in Belgium, Wisconsin. The family is on the same census page, and just four households away from, Mary's widowed mother Kate and two of Kate's children.
The 1905 Wisconsin state census, taken June first, shows "Dom" Watry, 37, a farmer; Mary, 33; and eight children, including seven year old Jacob, living in Belgium.
The 1910 U.S. census had an effecive date of April fifteenth. The Watry home was enumerated April twenty ninth. The census page shows Dominic, 43; Mary, 39; and 10 children, including 11 year old Jacob, still living in Belgium.
The 1920 U.S. census had an effective date of January first. The Watry home was enumerated January twenth ninth. The census page shows the poorly handwritten names of Dominic, 51; Mary, 48; their son Jacob, 21; and eight younger children. The family lived on a farm in Belgium.
The 1930 U.S. census had an effective date of April first. The Watry home was enumerated April eighth. The census page shows "Dom", 62, and Mary, 57, living in the home of their adult son Lawrence, which was on a farm in Belgium. Dominic was retired.
The 1940 U.S. census had an effective date of April first. The census page shows "Domonic F." Watry, a 63-year-old widower, living in the home of his late daughter's husband Paul Garbe and his young sons, in Belgium. The previous census stated Dominic was retired, but this 1940 census stated Dominic was <i>not</i> retired. He died five months after this census was recorded.
Almost all the information on Dominic's ancestors shown here comes from part of a huge genealogy chart that a Michele Weiland of Port Washington completed and posted online showing many ancestors of Jacob Watry. It is almost unbelievable that this much information could be discovered about so many ancestors going back so many centuries.
