The 1890 U.S. census records were accidentally burned or damaged by water in 1921. Most of the remaining records were destroyed about 1934.
The 1900 U.S. census had an effective date of June first. The Lesch home was enumerated June eighth. The census page shows "Nick", born in April 1862, which doesn't match the April 29, 1860, date of birth found for him elsewhere. Also shown is his wife "Kate", born in April 1870, which doesn't quite match the April 1871 date of birth found for her elsewhere. Also shown are seven children. Nick had immigrated in 1880, and his occupation was a shoemaker. The family owned a home in Belgium, Ozaukee, Wisconsin. It was stated that Nick and his parents were born in Luxembourg.
The 1905 Wisconsin state census, taken June first, shows "Nic", 43, a shoemaker; "Katie", 37; and six children, including three year old "Maggie", living in Belgium.
The 1910 U.S. census had an effective date of April fifteenth. The Lesch home was enumerated May twelfth. The census page shows "Nic", 48; Katie, 42; and nine children, including eight year old "Maggie". They still lived in Belgium. Nic was a shoemaker and he worked in his own shop. It was stated that Nic had immigrated in 1881, while the 1900 census had stated 1880.
The 1920 U.S. census had an effective date of January first. The Lesch home was enumerated January twenty sixth. The census page shows "Nic", 58, a farmer; Kate, 50; and 14 children, including 17 year old Maggie, still in Belgium.
The 1930 U.S. census had an effective date of April first. The Lesch home was enumerated April twenty second. The census page shows "Nic", 68, a farmer; his wife "Kathryn", 60; and three children still living in Belgium.
