Notes
a. Note: Notes for Andreas Funk: In the United States he was known as Andrew.
In May of 1872 the Funk family left their home in Bayern (Bavaria) Germany for the last time. They boarded the steamship "Koln" in Bremen, Germany. They arrived in the port of Baltimore on June tenth. The family consisted of "Andr" Funk, 43; his wife "Margar", 36; their children "Magdal" 7; Johann, 6; Eva, 4; and Mary, 9 months, plus someone who was either Andreas' father or much older brother, Johann Funk, age 60.

The 1875 Wisconsin state census, taken June first, shows Andreas Funk heading a household totaling two males and five females in Saukville, Wisconsin.
The 1880 U.S. census had an effective date of June first. The Funk household was enumerated June twelfth. The census page shows "Andrew", 51, a farmer; Margaretha, 42; son John, 14; and five younger daughters, living in Saukville.
Andrew died by 1885. This is known because his wife Margaretha was listed in the 1900 U.S. census as "Margarita Gill", who had been married to a Nick Gill for 15 years. They were living in Scott, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, with two of Margaretha's daughters with the last name of Funk. This is all confirmed in the March 24, 1931 Appleton Post-Crescent obituary of one of those two daughters, Anna Funk, which stated that the family had moved to Scott about 1883.
