Notes
a. Note:   Notes for Doris E. Ponting Lindsey: Doris' obituary (edited):
Doris Lindsey was born in Topeka, Kansas April 19, 1920, to Harry and Alice Ponting. Doris' family moved to California when Doris was a child. Doris grew up in Pomona. She met the love of her life, and married Clarence E. Lindsey July 3, 1940.
One of Doris' favorite stories about their marriage was that they got married because they won a car together as young lovers while courting. They had the winning ticket for a brand new 1939 Chevrolet and as the announcer called out their ticket number, they did not know whose ticket had actually won. This became a family favorite story to hear!
Doris and Clarence raised three beautiful daughters; Patty, Ginny and Julie. They lived most of their lives in Pomona and Montclair, then moved to Redding, California to fish and enjoy the great outdoors. Doris worked as a practical nurse her whole life, with a tender touch; always putting a smile on someone's face. She is described by all who knew her as loving, caring, creative, fun and silly. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and grami.
She was always involved in her families' lives, and always there for anyone who needed her. Doris was a Girl Scout leader for her girls, an avid fisherman, a talented artist, and part of many bowling leagues. She was a nature lover. She loved to dance and cook, and was a great candy maker.
Doris has nine grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family at the age of 92. She spent the later years of her life in Temecula and Murrieta. She left behind a legacy of love, countless stories, smiles, and many lives touched by her sweetness and sense of humor. She will be cherished in our hearts forever. No services are planned by the family.
