Notes
a. Note: Notes for Daniel Larsen: The Danish State Archives Filming Centre has photographed old church parish registers, and posted them online. The September 22, 1830, birth record for Daniel Larsen has been posted online and is linked to below. The photograph was taken in pure black or white, without any greyscale, so the result is a poor quality image: Photo
Daniel was born in Margrethehåb, in Sankt (Saint) Jørgensbjerg Parish, in the Sømme District, in Roskilde County, Denmark. After the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, that location is now within the city limits of the city of Roskilde, in Roskilde Municipality, in Region Zealand, in eastern Denmark.
The 1860 Danish census had an effective date of February first. Daniel Larsen, 30, was listed as an unmarried "assistant" living with unrelated people. "Assistant" probably meant a carpenter's helper, because the man who headed the household was a carpenter, and Daniel's occupation in 1880 in Wisconsin was listed as "works at saw mill". He lived in the town of Ejby, in Rye Parish, in the Voldborg District, in Roskilde County, in Denmark. After the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, that location is now the town of Ejby, in Køge Municipality, in Region Zealand, in eastern Denmark.
On March 3, 1860, in Ejby, in Rye Parish, in the Voldborg District, in Roskilde County, Denmark, Daniel Larsen married Karen Marie Christiansdatter. Their marriage record is the sixth from the top in this photo of one page of their church's parish marriage registry book: Photo
You would need to have or create a free account at familysearch.org to be able to see that photo.
The photographic quality is very poor, because it's black and white without any greyscale, but the information can be read. The first section basically says "Daniel Larsen of Ejby, 29 years old, born 1 June 1831." But Daniel told the person an incorrect date of birth. He was 29 at that time, but the church birth record made near the time of his birth shows that his actual date of birth was September 22, 1830.
The second section basically says "Karen Marie Christiansdatter of Ejby, 24 years old, (something) born 1836." But that was a little off. She was 24, but the church birth record made near the time of her birth shows that her actual date of birth was August 11, 1835.
The third section says their fathers' names, although they wrote an incorrect name for Karen's father. The fourth section states the date of the marriage; 3 March (1860).
The 1870 Denmark census shows the Daniel Larsen family of five. They are near the bottom of the left side of this poor quality photo posted on familysearch.org: Photo
That census was recorded a couple of months or so before the family emigrated from Denmark and immigrated to the United States.
Old Danish emigration records have been transcribed and are posted online. They show that the family registered to leave Denmark on April 14, 1870. The family had dropped the former naming conventions that had existed for centuries in the Scandinavian countries. Daniel had changed the last name of his wife and children to the same last name he had, Larsen.
The emigration records show that the family consisted of Daniel Larsen, a 39-year-old farmer; his wife Karen Larsen, 35; and their three children, daughter "Stine" (Maren Kirstine) Larsen, 9; daughter "Line" (Boline) Larsen, 7; and son Christian Larsen, half a year old.
They boarded the steamship Ocean Queen in Copenhagen on April 14th or 15th. They arrived in New York city May second.
The ship's manifest also shows the family. Daniel's occupation was a farmer: Photo
They made it to Wisconsin in time to be included in the 1870 U.S. census, which had an effective date of June first. The Larsen family was enumerated July fifteenth. The census page shows Daniel "Larson", 38; Karen Marie, listed as "Mary", 33; and three children, "Stina", 9; Polena, 7; and Christian, age one. "Stina" was a nickname for Maren Kirstine. Everybody was born in Denmark including the one-year-old, which shows how recently the family immigrated. The family lived in Saxeville, Waushara, Wisconsin. Daniel's occupation was working on a farm.

The 1880 U.S. census had an effective date of June first. The Larsen family was enumerated June ninth. The census page shows Daniel "Larsen", 49, and his wife, "Carin M C". That meant Karen M. Christiansdatter, who was 44. Also listed were three children. The family lived in Belmont, Portage, Wisconsin. Their 20 year old daughter Maren Kirstine was no longer living at home, but she was still unmarried. She was going by the name Christine. She was working as a servant for another family in the larger town of Plover, in Portage County, Wisconsin. Daniel worked in a saw mill.

The 1890 U.S. census records were accidentally burned or damaged by water in 1921. Most of the remaining records were destroyed about 1934.
The 1900 U.S. census had an effective date of June first. The Larsen family was enumerated June fifth. That was the only census ever that asked for the month each person was born. The census page shows Daniel "Larson", born in September 1830, and his wife Karen M., born in August 1835. The couple had been married for 40 years. Karen had given birth to six children, only three of whom were still living at that time. They still lived in Belmont. They and their parents had been born in Denmark. Daniel and Karen had immigrated to the United States in 1870. Daniel was a farmer.

The 1905 Wisconsin state census was taken in June. The census page shows Daniel "Larson", 74, and his wife "Carrie M", 69. They still lived in Belmont. Daniel was still a farmer.
