Note: Notes for Rasmus Jensen: The effective date of the 1834 Danish census was February eighteenth. Listed were Rasmus Jensen, 52, a farmer; his wife Else Hansdatter, 35; their sons Jens Rasmussen, 20; Hans Rasmussen, 16; and daughters Karen Rasmusdatter, 13; Ane Rasmusdatter, 11; Maren Rasmusdatter, 8; Birthe Rasmusdatter, 4; and Sidsel Rasmusdatter, age two. They lived on a farm in Toreby By (Toreby town) in Toreby Sogn (Toreby Parish) in the Musse District, in Maribo County, Denmark. After the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, that location is now the (small) town of Toreby, in Guldborgsund Municipality, in Region Zealand, in Denmark. Places of birth were not listed in this census. The effective date of the 1840 Danish census was February first. Listed were Rasmus Jensen, 57, a widowed farmer; his son Hans Rasmussen 26; and six daughters; Karen Rasmusdater, 19; Ane Rasmusdatter, 17; Maren Rasmusdatter, 14; Birthe Rasmusdatter, 10; Sidsel Rasmusdatter, 7; and Bodil Rasmusdatter, age four. Rasmus' wife listed in 1834, Else Hansdatter, wasn't listed in 1840, so she must have died since her daughter Bodil was born, 4 to 5 years previously. Places of birth were not listed in this census. The effective date of the 1845 Danish census was February first. Listed were Rasmus Jensen, 62, a widowed farmer; his son Hans Rasmussen 26; and five daughters; Ane Rasmusdatter, 22; Maren Rasmusdatter, 18; Birthe Rasmusdatter, 15; Sidsel Rasmusdatter, 12; and Bodil Rasmusdatter, age eight. They still lived in Toreby. They all had been born in Toreby Parish. The effective date of the 1850 Danish census was February first. Listed were Rasmus Jensen, 67, a widowed farmer; his son Hans Rasmussen, 31; and daughters Birthe Rasmusdatter, 20; Sidsel Rasmusdatter, 15; and Bodil Rasmusdatter, 13. They still lived in Toreby. They all had been born in Toreby Parish. The effective date of the 1855 Danish census was February first. Rasmus Jensen, 73, was listed. His family position was written as an "Aftægtsmand", which meant a man who was cared for by people who took over his farm or house. So he and the others were still living in the same home in Toreby where Rasmus was the head of the household in the 1850 census. The others in the household were the new head of the household, Jens Christensen, 29, who was the husband of Rasmus' 25 year old daughter Birthe Rasmusdatter; plus Rasmus' two youngest and unmarried daughters, Sidsel Rasmusdatter, 22; and Bodil Rasmusdatter, 18. Rasmus wasn't listed in the area in the 1860 census. He had probably died by then.
