Note: Notes for Mary June Demeny Paulson: Mary June was born at home. She went by the name of June. She was the oldest of 15 children. She lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin her whole life. Mary June "June" Demeny was the biological mother of the baby named Margaret Florence (Olson or Demeny) (later adoptively named Linda Rae Jansen with the later married name of Linda Rae Eckl) that she had with Gerald "Jerry" Louis Olson. Jerry and June were not married to each other. Jerry was 20 years old and June was 18 when June became pregnant. June left her lifetime home in Green Bay sometime during July, August, or September of 1942 and "went on a trip", so to speak, to Milwaukee. That would have been done to hide June's pregnancy and subsequent birth of a baby from everybody she knew in Green Bay, other than her parents, who must have known June was pregnant. So June became one of "The Girls Who Went Away", which is the title of a powerful and very highly rated book written by an adoptee in 2006 about "good" families rushing to hide the mortifying evidence of premarital sex. Attitudes of the time were similar to "what will the neighbors think?" A few days after Margaret was born in Milwaukee, June took her back near her home in Green Bay and brought her to St. Mary's Home (for unwed mothers) and Orphanage on October twentieth. In the orphanage the infant Margaret was called "Peggy". June was trying to decide whether to keep the baby if she and Gerald decided to get married. June finally decided to put the baby up for adoption. An apparent factor in the decision-making was apparently that June was a Catholic but Jerry was not. Margaret was placed with Raymond and Audrey Domke Jansen on March 23, 1943, while everybody waited for the final adoption to happen. The final adoption happened Nov 30, 1943 through the Milwaukee County Court. When Ray and Audrey Jansen adopted Margaret, they changed her name to Linda Rae Jansen. Years later, in 1947, June and Jerry went on to marry other people. Mary June Demeny married James William Paulson on September 13, 1947, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Green Bay, Brown, Wisconsin. They had five children; Ann, James, Philip, Greg, and Mary Christine, "Cris".
