  The 1930 U.S. census had an effective date of April first. The Demeny family was enumerated April seventh. The census page shows Jule, 31; his wife Margaret, 26; and daughters June, 6; Dorothy, 4; and Bernadine, age three. The couple had been married for six years. They owned a home valued at $2,800. Jule was a millwright at a paper mill. The family lived at 1276 Stuart Street in Green Bay, Brown, Wisconsin. Jule was listed as being born in Wisconsin, as was his mother. His father was born in Belgium. Margaret was born in Wisconsin, as was her mother. Margaret's father was born in New York.

  The 1940 U.S. census had an effective date of April first. The Demeny family was enumerated April tenth. The census page shows Jules, 42; Margaret 36; June, 16; and eight younger children. They had moved half a block at some point within the previous 10 years, and they then lived at 1313 Stuart Street, in Green Bay. Jules was a millwright at a paper mill. Jules had a 6th grade education, and Margaret had an 8th grade education.

  Over the decades, Jule's occupations were cheesemaker, millwright, cook, and custodian. He likely needed all of those occupations to pay for the 15 children he and Margaret had.
