Note: Notes for David Mulcahy: David was born in Ireland, probably in County Cork, possibly in the Townland of Caherlag. He immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings. They arrived in the province of Quebec on July 6, 1825. They then boarded a steamboat to Montreal. The passenger list shows that David was 17 years old, the oldest child. If accurate, that would put his year of birth in late 1807 or early 1808.
Ages given in three censuses all point to different years of birth, so the correct year is unknown.
The 1851/1852 census of Canada West shows David, with a misspelled last name of "Mulcahe", 49, his wife Ann, 44, and 10 children, including 11 year old Mary. They lived in the Township of Emily in Victoria County, in Canada West, Province of Canada. Canada West was later called the province of Ontario. David was a farmer. The family was Catholic.

The 1861 Census of Canada shows David, 59, a farmer, and his wife, listed as Nancy, 52, living in the Township of Emily, in Victoria County, Quebec. David's parents William and Mary were living with or next to them.
An online index of heads of households from the 1871 Census of Canada, which was taken in April, shows the misspelled name of David "Mulahey". That was actually David Mulcahy. He was listed as a 62-year-old farmer from Ireland. David was Catholic. He lived in the Township of Emily in the Victoria South district, in Ontario, Canada.
The 1881 Census of Canada, taken in April, shows David Mulcahy 75; his wife Ann, 70; and an adult daughter living in the Township of Emily in the Victoria South district, in Ontario, Canada. They were listed as being born in Ireland. They were Catholic.
