Notes
a. Note:   AKA Emily Rothenberga, Germany Church Records show name as "Amalie Caroline Bilke". Upon arrival in America at the Port of New York on April 29, 1851, the passenger lists shows her name as "A. Amalie Bilke". 1860 Sauk City (Merrimac, Sauk County) Wisconsin Federal Census shows name as "Amalie Bilke". Matrimonial Certificate shows name as "Amalia Carolina Bilke". 1880 Newton County, Missouri census shows name as "Emily Schaffner. Death certificate and tombstone shows name as "Amelia C. Schaffner". Apparently over time she changed her name from "Amalie" to "Amelia". In 1900 Amelia is a widow living in North Yakima, Washington. Per the census she had 3 children with 3 living in 1900. Apparent misunderstanding on census, she had many more children but 3 were living with her in 1900. In 1910 Amelia is living at 712 North Fourth Street in North Yakima, Washington. Per the 1910 census she had 9 children with 8 living in 1910. In 1930 Amelia Schaffner is a widow living at 712 North Fourth Street in Yakima, Washington, next door to her daughter Josephine Smith. Amelia is buried in the Tahoma Cemetery at Yakima, Washington. Her older sister also died using the exact given name, Amelia Braun.
