Note: I have always gone by Leon to my family and friends. My mother always called my Dad Clyde so to avoid confusion I was always called Leon. I have used Leon all my life, but legally I have gone by Clyde Leon Meyers. I was born and raised in Cushing, Oklahoma graduating from Cushing High School in 1956, the same year my father died in an automobile accident. I was drafted into the US Army in 1961 with basic training in Fort Carson, Colorado and then sent to Fort Bliss, Texas for Truck Driving School. Upon arrival in Fort Bliss our group was asked if anyone could type so I raised my hand and was assigned to the training department. Within a couple of months I was reassigned to Company Clerk. Not long afterward I was reassigned to Seoul, Korea where I worked as a clerk typist for the United Nations Command. My first wife was with me in Korea and we both had a very enjoyable time. I was discharged from the Army in California where I have spent the rest of my life, retiring from Pacific Gas and Electric Company in 1995. I have been married twice and both were very happy marriages. My first wife and I have a son and a daughter, my second wife has three daughters. My second wife and I raised all five children from the time the youngest was 3 years old and they are all great children. In March 2002 I was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and after chemo and radiation therapy was declared cancer free in August 2002. In August 2003 the cancer was back. I have had additional chemo and radiation therapy but any further treatment seems useless and I am under the care of Hospice. It is now exhausting to even type so this will probably be the last you will hear from me. Leon Meyers February 16, 2004
