Notes
a. Note:   -- ".. settled north of Clinton.." Was known as Baty. "In the early 1900's Baty moved his family to Lukin, TX where he worked as a foreman on a railroad. In 1909, they returned to Arkansas, settling at Edgemont, Cleburne, AR where he again worked as a line foreman on the M & NA Railroad. Later they lived a short time in Leslie, Searcy, AR. On 2 Mar 1917, J.B. purchased a homestead from the government at Chinky Pin (now known as Botkinburg). J.B. opened a grocery store on the main road (now US Hwy 65) which was used for a time as the postoffice, and J.B. as the postmaster. Together, J.B. and Susie lived upstairs and operated the store and postoffice until the late 1930's. At that time, the store was sold to John Ward and the postoffice moved across the highway to a new building. J.B. moved his family back to the farm and continued as postmaster, traveling back and forth tothe postoffice each day. He served as postmaster until he retired in 1942 and began farming. He farmed until his death on 26 Nov. 1954. Susie died 14 Oct. 1964, they are both buried in the Dennard Cemetery."
