Note: N92030154 Mrs. Homer Bailey "kept" school with her mother Mrs. Fleming. Both highly educated ladies form Martinique, Mrs. Fleming taught little boys and girls (first grade to fifth grade) from the rocking chair in her bedroom as they sat on their stools around her.Writing was bought at the dining room table. Catechism was emphasized. Most of the children were from the prominent families. Today the location is a parking lot at the northeast corner of South Washington and Main Street. (taken from Perrin's AttakapasHistory, written in 1959. Hebert has a record of her succession in SWLR at Lafayette Courthouse, Succession # 2073 on March 30, 1896.
