a. Note:   N13928941 Homer Bailey appears to have worked at the family paper (which William Britton Bailey Jr. owned and edited), as he is listed on the 1880 US Census as being a Printer. His wife Emily FLEMING was a school teacher at her small private school in Lafayette. Mrs. Homer Bailey's school is pictured in Griffon's "The Attakapas Country: A History of Lafayette Parish, Louisiana." From what I gather the school may have been at the home of the elder Mrs. Fleming, which then the photo would be her home (immigrants fromMartinique).
  Homer Bailey is Mentioned in the Memoires of a Confederate Ancestor, William Britton Bailey, Jr.: first page of text identifies 6 brothers…"To William, Sr. and Sarah were born six sons—Abijah, Benjamin, Columbus, Arthur Polk, William Britton, Jr., and Homer—and finally a daughter, Sarah or Susan, as she was called. All six sons served the Confederacy, all six returned from the War."
  The 1880 US Census suggests that Homer's family was evidently caring for his nephew Fernando Eraste Bailey (son of Benjamin Bailey), who was 16 at the time--Fernando's father died in 1874. The census also lists Fernando as a Printer.
