Note: From the "Peoria Journal-Transcript" Sept. 2, 1943, p. 17. "Ashley Offil, acting price officer of the Peoria district arrived here yesterday afternoon to take over his duties with the local OPA office. He replaces Dale L. Smith who has been transferred to Des Moines, Iowa. Mr. Smith's transfer has been made effective immediately. Mr. Offill has served as price officer of the Rockford district for the last three months. Previously he was attached to the Chicago office. Before his term of government service began, he had worked in the retail division of Montgomery Ward & Co. at the home office in Chicago. Mr. Offill is a native of Chicago and a graduate of the University of Chicago. His wife and two small sons will join him in Peoria shortly."
