NOTE: In the 1950s, Sam, Bessie and family lived on a gravel road East of Mingo, North of Asherville and West/Southwest of Puxico, Stoddard County, Missouri. Mingo was located at Sec. 3, Twp. 26 N, R 8 E, on Highway T, West of 51. There was a post-office there in 1901-02. (--Missouri Manual, p. 389.) No longer listed. Asherville is located at Sec. 15, Twp. 26 N, R 8 E, on Highway J, west of 51. I spent a few of my summers with Sam and Bessie and a some with my other grandparents, Elmer and Lucy. There wasn't a lot to do at Grandpa Sanders house so I just followed him and my Uncle Ernie around doing what ever there was to keep me occupied. I remember the little old house was pretty crowded all the time because Sam, Bessie, Ernie, Jewell, Louise, Patsy, Brenda and Linda lived there too. Grandpa Sam had two old mules, Kate and Jack, there for plowing and pulling a wagon. AFB
