Notes
a. Continued:   NOTE: There is a two year discrepancy in the year of Elsie's birth. Census records show December 1897 whereas death certificate, state birth year as 1895. Is it possible that Elsie was under 15 when she married Elmer? Her sisters Mary and Viviena were about that age when they were married. It is highly improbable that Elsie, her parents, her sister and two census takers made a two year mistake in the age of Elsie in June of 1900 and again in April of 1910. It is probable however, that if Elsie was only 14 years and 4 months old when she married Elmer Burkett in April of 1912, they may not have been truthful about her age. FACT: Elsie and Elmer's Marriage License (dated 24 April 1912) states Elmer is 22 years old and Elsie is 19. That indicates Elsie was born in 1893 (four years older than her real age of 15). Also, The Application For Marriage License form is also signed by a gentleman named J. E. Hall (age 22) who attests that he is acquainted with Elsie and Elmer. He signs the document as "Applicant" but he is clearly the witness. I believe Mr. Hall is probably John Estie Hall, Elsie's older brother. AFB
