Notes
a. Note:   ske, Sweden 31st May 1862. Lars Brathe of Sweden informs me according to archive office, Johan was confirmed 20 May 1877 and his knowledge in reading and Christianity was approved (Defendable, defendable, respecively = solid pass) Johan immigrated aboard the Norwegian Barque "India" to Australia, landing at Port Adelaide on 28th Febuary 1878, aged 15 years. It appears the shipping records for Port Adelaide for that time period were apparently destroyed, so finding them for confirmation and who he may have travelled with will be slim, unless there are records out of Sweden and Norway.
I am unable to find the marriage details for John and Elizabeth.
According to Broken Hill Heritage Group, upon the marriage of his daughter Eizabeth (Myra Annie) John was a sailor 27th March 1913. This is confirmed on Myra Annie Norgren's marriage certificate.
According to notes of George Wilson, his father Norman stated "dad worked as an engineer type person, could have been involved in Bridge Works"
John and Elizabeth must have divorced, as Elizabeth remarries to Mr William James Neale in c.1914. John lived out the rest of his life somewhere in South Australia with a 'black shiela' as quoted by family.
According to research by Margaret Bolton of Nadda (whose family owns the same land today): "J E Norgren purchased a small portion of Section 34 Hundred of Bookpurnong in 1928. E Norgren, labourer, is listed in Sands & McDougall’s SA Directory for Nadda for 1929-35. The 1928 electoral roll has both Johan and John Edward Norgren listed for Nadda as a clerk and labourer respectively. John’s land was not of farming proportions but residential; he sold it to M Bruer (Margaret Breuer) in 1934. (Perhaps he was called Ted?)" "It would seem that Johan and John may have been one and the same, listed twice on the electoral roll. [1] He was in the area from approximately 1928 to 1934, seven years, with his children grown up and no longer with him. Johan died in 1937 while living at Kent Town. He was aged 73, ie born in about 1864."

Note:   Birth place taken from Stanley and Reginald's Birth certificate: Christiansand, Norway. His Naturalizatin application records (available for viewing at www.naa12.naa.gov.au ) states he was born at By
