Note: ills were always moving, so Bill had to move with them. He traveled to several locations, including Mississippi, and as far away as Oregon. He then returned to Crossett, then decided to attend a welding school in Shreveport. Avis also learned welding and went to Vancouver, Washington during the war years. After the war, in the fall of 1945, they came to the Monroe area, purchased 20 acres near where Avis’ sister Zelda and her husband Allen where living and started raising a crop. In January, 1949 Bill and Avis purchased the Pipes home in Bosco on Pipes Lane. In December of that year, they began a mission of love, becoming caretakers for foster children. Over 300 children have stayed in the home of "Bill" and Avis Jeter in Bosco. At one particular time, 22 foster children were living in the home. Mitchell Eugene is the only one they decided to officially adopt. P. M. and Avis also drove a school bus from Bosco to Logtown School.
