  It seems that he was a Rebel soldier before he was a Union soldier. He is on the roster of Company E, 35th Arkansas Infantry Regiment CSA. He was wounded badly in the right leg. He was always a cripple and received pension from government.
  A grand-daughter wrote of him: "Charlotte Metcalf and Thomas Nathan Ellington - William; Columbus Mayfield; Mary; Laura; James; David; Cora; Samual; Ora. In Civil War; Northern Soldier."
