  Helen (Lafferty) Gallagher, 86, of Highland Park, passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Rose Mountain Care Center, New Brunswick. She was born in Jersey City in 1923 to Daniel and Regina Lafferty. As a young girl, Helen worked as a "Page" for DBC radio. During World War II, she worked at the RCA facility. She also worked as a waitress for some years in Jersey City and Union City. Her proudest accomplishment was in advertising sales for TV News of Jersey City, for which she also wrote articles.
  She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1975. Surviving are her daughter, Dolores, and her son, Edward of Florida; her son, Dennis and his daughters, Elizabeth and Kimberly of Texas; her son, Richard and his wife Marienne of South River; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Anne and her husband Warren Thompson of Highland Park; her brother, Daniel Lafferty of Jersey City; and several nieces and nephews.
  Friends and relatives may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N. Main St. at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5 at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church, Highland Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salesian Missions, 2 Lefevre Lane, P.O. Box 30, New Rochelle, NY 10802.
