Note:   (Research):Southam was a surgeon in Ashton-under-Lyne, who possibly came into Manchester to perform operations. He was born in London on 3 June 1779 and was apprenticed to Tristram Ridgway of Ashton-under-Lyne in 1796. Southam died on 1 December 1862 and was buried in the family vault in Ashton-under-Lyne.
