  The Rock Rapids, Iowa newspaper, "The Reporter", dated May 13, 1915 had the following article: "Mrs. Herman Witte Dead. Mrs. Herman Witte died at the family home in this city Tuesday morning after an illness of three months. Death was caused by nephritis, which followed an attack of pneumonia about three months ago, and during most of the time, Mrs. Witte was a great sufferer. Everything that loving hands and medical skill could do was without avail to stay the ravages of the disease, and for several days her demise was hourly expected. Wilhelmina Miller was born at Prieman Kreis Anklum, Province of Primmern, Germany on February 1, 1855. Her family moved to this country in 1865, settling at Buffalo, N.Y., whence they moved to Clayton county, Iowa, where they settled on a farm near Elkader. In April 1875, she was united in marriage to Mr. Herman Witte, at Elkader. In 1889 they moved to this city, where they have made their home ever since, except for a few years when they lived on a farm near Dell Rapids, S.D. They returned to this city about ten years ago. Besides her husband, Mrs. Witte is survived by three daughters, two sons and one brother, all of where were here at the time of her death or a few days previous. The children are Wm. F. and Fred C., Miss Minnie, Mrs S.P. Klucker of Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Fred C. Lauck, who lives five miles west of this city. Her brother, Wm. F. Miller of Sioux Falls was here. All were present at the funeral. Funeral services were held this afternoon from the German Lutheran church, north, by the pastor, Rev. Edw. Goeringer, and there was a large attendance of friends and neighbors. Interment was in Riverview cemetery. Mrs. Witte was a quiet, home loving woman, and was not as well acquainted as many in this community, though those who knew her best admired her sincerely for her many good traits, her love of home and family and her willingness at all times to help those in distress or who needed aid. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and the bereaved ones have the sympathy of all in the loss of the dear one."
  Family cemetery plot has a large headstone with one side marked "Witte" and the other side marked "Lauck".
