Obituary from Leaf River Register, March 19, 1954:
  MRS. ANNIE B. EMERY DIES
Mrs. Annie B. Emery was born in Covington, Ky., Sept. 4, 1864, and died at Sunny Rest home in Byron, Monday, March 15, 1954, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Emery's father died when she was about a year old. Her mother then came west ???? and located in a small settlement, which later became Mount Morris. Five years later her mother remarried and the family moved to a farm north of Leaf River. Mrs. Emery lived here until her marriage to Darwin D. Emery, Sept. 24, 1885, at Leaf River.
Their first home was on a small farm north of Myrtle. They spent six years in this community and then moved to a farm north of Byron. They resided there for about 15 years. In 1908 they moved to Byron, where Mr. Emery started a hardware store. Since that time, Mrs. Emery had resided here, with the exception of four years in Bridgeport, Conn., and the past seven years with her daughter, Mrs. Jay H. Sabin in Marion Township.
Mrs. Emery became affiliated with the Congregational Church when she first moved to this community. She and her husband were among the people who helped build the present church building. She was never happier than when helping with the various activities of the church. She was very fond of flowers and many hours were spent with her flowers and garden. She had a host of friends and neighbors and her greatest aim was to please and help them in any way possible.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Jay Sabin; a granddaughter, Mrs. Walter Lucas; a grandson, E. D. Norton, Stratford, Conn.; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She leaves one brother, Louis Kramer, also a large number of nieces and nephews. She had three sisters, and a brother, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Cooling W. R. C. and the Missionary Society of the Byron Church. During the first World War, she spent many days and evenings sewing for the soldiers.
Funeral services for here were held Thursday afternoon at 2:p.m., at the United Church of Byron, with the Rev. Paul Larsen officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Harold Yost. Burial was in the Byron Cemetery.
