  Jo remembers her saying she'd tell her to sit down when riding beside her in a truck. Betty Jo would refuse, saying "I won't sit down, I won't sit down" then after offered threats, saying "I will sit down."
  Ella played badminton and croquet with Betty Jo on her lawn.
  After opening presents, she'd iron and save the wrapping paper for re-use the next Christmas.
  She made one quilt each winter.
  Every spring, she bought a box of chicks and raised them near the fireplace in the house, changing newspaper liner each day and giving them fresh water in an inverted jar made for the purpose.
  She'd follow the tobacco setter, righting misplanted or missed slips with a wooden peg.
  Made crepe paper flowers in the shape of foxglove for decoration day at Taylor's Chapel. She taught Betty Jo how to make crepe paper hyacinths.
  Raised a garden each year.
  Milked cows twice a day for most of her adult life on the farm.
  After the tobacco crop was cut she and Betty Jo would pick up trash leaves and string them on baling wire for hanging in the barn.
  Ella gave Betty Jo a $1000 savings account. In 1972, is was used to buy Jo and Gary's first bedroom furniture.
  Gave Gary Violette her dinner bell for taking it down after the support under the cradle on one side rotted away.
  After Joe Tommy Harris died, she bought a house in Elkton and moved there.
  She took two trips to visit Jo and Gary, one to Lexington and one to Charleston, where she waded in the Atlantic.
