The deceased was, at the time of his death, one of the oldest settlers of LaPorte county. In 1834 his father moved from Virginia and settled upon a farm a few miles north of his late residence. Mr. Eaton when about 21 years of age, settled upon the farm which has been his home ever since, or for about half a century. He was twice married and leaves a widow and eight children, all grown to mans estate, to mourn his loss. The good qualitis of his heart were shown by the care he bestowed upon his eldest son, who by means of an accident in infancy, was rendered completely helpless through life. For forty five years has Mr. Eaton cared for him as for a babe and was never known to complain of his charge, a charge which was ended but a few days ago by the death of this helpless one. He died as he lived respected by all, what better could we say of any one? The funeral services were held yesterday at the Presbyterian church, Union Mills, Rev. S. E. Smith officiating, and the remains intered in the Union cemetery. **************************************************************************************************************************** Obituary From the LaPorte Argus, LaPorte, Indiana November 5, 1891 Thos L Eaton, died of Bright's disease last Tuesday, at his home in Clinton township.
