Note: OBITUARY PROMINENT WHITING MAN DEAD Whiting, March 21, - Hundreds of friends of Thomas W Eaton, 67 years old, 434 Sheridanavenue, were shocked today when news spread over the city telling of his death. Death occured at 6 a.m. today at St Bernard's hospital. The decedent had been in the hospital only since Saturday. He had been suffering from appendicitis and gall bladder trouble but his condition was not thought alarming. He was born in La Porte, Indiana, March 4, 1860, and had lived in Whiting for more than 33 years. He was on of the oldest and most popular of the residents here and had hundreds of friends in this region who will sadly mourn his passing. He was one of the oldest and most faithful employees of the Standard Oil Company here. The deceased was a member of the Odd Fellows, Masons, Foreman Fellowship Club of the Standard Oil Company and Old Settlers of Whiting. Besides his widow, Cora, he is survived by the following children: Mrs Maude Bell of Whiuting, Mrs Bruce Nichols, Glen Ellyn IL., Mrs U J Moore, Whiting, and a son Alvin. Two isiters, Mrs Margaret Gimberling of Valparaiso, and Mrs Nancy Harris, Blue Island, Nebraska, also are left to mourn his passing. The funeral will be held Wednesday from his residence. Rev Porter of the Methodist Episcopal church will have charge of the funeral services. Members of the Masonic lodge will ahve charge of the services at the cemetery. Burial will be at Union Mills, IN Schatler Bros have chrge of funeral arrangements.
