Note: iswald Road and Lake Avenue) He and his brothers went to school in the school house that was located on their own parents land. In his later teenage years he and his family lived at 117 Water Street in Elyria. Next door to him, at 116 Water Street, lived a pretty girl by the name of Ethel Mary Esker, in 1906, according to the Elyria City Directory, Ethel was a stenographer. Ellis and Ethel married in 1909 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elyria by Reverand John Sheffield.They then removed to Michigan for a short time. Ellis did factory work, he was a toolmaker, for part of his life but then found that being in a factory all day was not for him. He left the factory work and started his own business. He bought a bus and transported the people of Elyria around town. Because of the cost of upkeep and maintenance for the bus, and the fact that he had no backing, he had to give up his business; in the city directory it listed him as a "Taximan". He then took a job as a postman in Elyria. He remained in this profession until he retired on May 1, 1951, after 28 years of postal service to many of the people in Elyria. He and Ethel moved from Elyria on August 26, 1953 to their place of retirement, Bluebird Beach, Vermilion Ohio. Here was where Ellis enjoyed much of his later life. Fishing was a big pass time for him. His children and grandchildren spent many happy times visiting Ellis and Ethel at their little home at Bluebird Beach. The family get togethers and grandma's ginger snaps, the picture remains; memories that will last forever.
