Notes
a. Note:   iggins was one of the pioneers of the Forks of the River, in Florence." Daniel and Mary and some of their children migrated to the Huron County area about 1816. Daniel's brother, Obadiah, came about this same time with his family. In several different Lorain, Erie and Huron county history books it mentions the settling of the " Fork of the river in Florence" by the Higgins family members. They were found in the early history books and land records living in Huron County around the New London and Fitchville area. Then later they are found near Birmingham in Florence township just west of the Lorain county border. Just when the Higgins family came into the Fitchville area is uncertain. The property that they obtained lies in the corner next to New London and Clarksfield. Lewis Higgins purchased land there in 1823. By 1827 Lewis had removed to Florence or Vermilion Township where he died in 1829. The following is from the Land records of Huron County Ohio: Volume 4 page 497; "Know all men by these presents that I, Henry Worshburn of Greenwich, Huron County and State of Ohio for the consideration of one hundred dollars received as my full satisfaction of Daniel Higgins of Fitchville County State aforesaid do give grant bargain and sell and confirm unto the said Daniel Higgins a certain lot or tract of land being and lying in the second section of Fitchville Huron County and State of Ohio and bounded as follows beginning on the North line of the township at the north west corner of Lewis Higgins land from thence running one hundred rod west on said township line from thence south parallel with said Higgins west line and far enough south to certain fifty two acres....
