a. Note:   his job very seriously and spent many years until his retirement as a member of the Department. He was called out on many of the large fires that ravaged the city of Elyria in the past decades. In the 1950's Robert and Marion built a cottage in Vermilion Ohio between the city of Vermilion and the city of Huron. Here is where, with the welcoming love of Bob and Marion, that many of the family members spent their happy summers. This was the place for the gatherings on summer holidays. Fourth of July fireworks were displayed over the lake after dark, to the amazement of the children the sky would light up in splendor. Marion always had plenty of snacks for the festivities. All would bring a variety of food for the picnic, Aunt Sheila, of course was in charge of the baked beans. Much food was eaten and much laughter filled the air. This is where we learned to swim, and sometimes just walked the beach with Aunt Marion and searched for seashell treasures. The cottage burned down a few years ago and there is no sign of it anymore, but what Robert and Marion gave us, by sharing their summer place, will remain as wonderful memories forever. The following information was found on the 1910 Census for Lorain County Ohio: Rhuben A Curtis 56 OH wife: Sophronia E 54 OH son: Carl N 24 OH dau in law: Hilda A 20 PA Grson: Harvey C 3 OH mother in law: Mary C Coleman 78 OH The LaGrange cemetery has the following people buried there: Rhuben A Curtis 1852-1924 wife Sophronia 1854-1919 Lela Pearl daughter 1890 Maude daughter 1872-1895 Frank son of Maude no dates Everett son of Maude no dates also at the same cemetery are: Francis Coleman 1835-1912 Mary wife 1831-1914 I do not have verification on Francis and Mary but according to the dates and place of burial I assume they are the parents of Sophronia, they would be the grandparents to Carl N Curtis.
