He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and the church's Holy Name Society. He served as a corporal in the 1st Division Marine Infantry during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Hysell was a member of the Hinkson-Hysell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3341 in Grafton, the American Legion Post 12 in Elyria, the National Association of Retired Veteran Employees and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He enjoyed model railroads, liked to travel and was an avid sports fan." "Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria where members of VFW Post 3341 will conduct full military honors." Bob and Ruth Hysell were a safe haven for the family members to go. It was always a welcome home if you had troubles you needed to talk over, or if you just needed a hug from Ruth. It was a busy house with much joy. Bob worked long hours and Ruth filled his shoes while he was gone. There was always laughter in their home and Bob was famous for a joke or two every time you were there, most of them would bring a glint of red to Ruth's checks and slight grin and then you would hear "Oh Bob". Bob would tell of World War II. He was always quite proud of his life as a Marine and we in turn were proud of him. You could count on Ruth to make you feel special and very loved. When in need of love you could depend on the Hysell house.
