Note: e Civil War. He originally enlisted in the 58th OVI and was transferred December 28, 1861 to the 43rd Regiment Captain Dewey's Company. He was 20 years old. On January 30, 1862 a coffin was ordered for him in the amount of $5.50 and payment was received at Camp Andrews. He is noted as dying from an illness. It had been a cold winter and many men who served around that time and place had become ill or died. There is a Civil War monument located on Main Street in Kipton, Ohio which has John's name and regimental information listed. A young man of 20 years old, what a loss. But then so many families suffered though this terrible war that took so many young men to their early demise. John is buried along with his parents in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio. They share a headstone which is decorated with an American flag on the specified National holidays, in honor of his sacrifice for our "Freedom". OBJE: JohnWHarley2.jpg
