Zanesville, Ohio, Times Recorder, 17 July 1950 Cleveland, July 16 -- The accidental discharge of a .22 rifle today killed Daniel Gronert, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Gronert of Cleveland Heights. Police Sgt. Edward K. Roll said the boy apparently was holding both the rifle and the handlebars of his bicycle, as he wheeled the bicycle out of the family garage.
