a. Note:   Thomas Jenkins and Betsy Ballard married in Orange County, North Carolina the 29th of November 1799. Lucy, thier first child, was born there in 1800. At 18 she married John Collier in Orange County and had seven children before leaving North Carolina. They left a few years before her parents left Chatham County in 1832. Their migration route west took them through Hall County, Georgia where they are found on the 1830 census there. Two more of their children were born in Georgia before they moved on further west. We believe by 1840 they were in Alabama and by 1850, northeast Mississippi. In 1850 the family is in Itawamba County, Mississippi, and in 1860, Monroe County just to the south. Coincidently, Lucy's brother, James Wilson, was living just north of Itawamba County in Tishomingo County, Mississippi in the 1840s. John may have died after 1860. Lucretia Jenkins Collier, now a 70 year old widow and a fifth generation Jenkins of William Jenkins of Old Rappahannock, Virginia was living with her son, Francis Charles Collier, in Liberty, Stoddard County, Missouri in 1870. Her parents and some of her brothers and sisters had migrated to Stoddard County earlier in the 1840s.
