a. Note:   After his father died and Charles Barto was born in 1915, Henry and Bessie left for Hominy Oklahoma where his half-brothers and sisters had gone years earlier.
  Alice Daisy contracted measles at school in the winter of 1919 and they were passed on to her mother and infant sister. Bessie died in December and two-year old Dora died the following June. Both are buried in the Hominy Cemetery.
  Henry's mother came from Gibson County, Tennessee to help with the family and appeared with the family on the 1920 census. Sometime after 1920, Henry and his children returned to Hardin County. Henry had no Jenkins family there any longer, but perhaps Bessie's folks helped raised the children.
  Henry Lowery and his children were the only Jenkins descendants of his father, and grandfather, James Wilson Jenkins, that remained in Hardin County.
