Note: ut Aunt Addie. She used to visit us when I was a kid, and she would stay for several days at a time. Anyway, the story goes that she was helping out when Jim Gunter's 1st wife was very ill, and before the wife died, she made Addie promise that she would look after Jim and the children. Since she couldn't stay in the house with him (appearances sake!) she married him, her cousin and a man twice her age. My mother thought she was a saint who lived her life for others. She was a sweet lady, with a lovely round, serene face; I can still see her sitting in a rocking chair by the window in my parent's bedroom, doing my mother's mending. My mother's health was fragile when she was in her 40's, so Aunt Addie would come to help out. Source: Eldon Kemp - She came to our farm often ... was a wonderful woman. She had painful in-growing eye lashes (trichiasis) which my mother removed for her with tweezers periodically. Birth per Office of the Registrar General, Ontario, R.G.80-2 registration #009471.
